Stop Gambling on Hunger serves as an informal clearinghouse for resources, news, and action updates from U.S. and international campaigns to curb excessive speculation in food and energy markets.
The site’s purpose is to raise public awareness of the problem and build momentum around campaigns to bring back common-sense regulations to these essential markets–markets that provide us with two of our most basic needs: food and energy.
The site is managed by David Kane and Brennan Baker, who work with the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns (read about why David got involved here). The Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns is a collaborative ministry of the Maryknoll Sisters, the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers and the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, committed to peace, social justice and the integrity of creation through education and advocacy.
We rely on continued input and support from our campaign allies to keep the site up-to-date with the latest developments.
